Clean & grind
You need to clean your buds and remove any foreign substances or seeds that might have come in. Make sure your weed is completely clean and ground into an even texture. You don’t have to make a powder out of your weed, a rough equal grind should be perfect.
Getting ready
After cleaning and grinding your weed, place it on a sheet of butter paper or any baking sheet on a baking dish. Make sure that you have distributed the weed equally and evenly on the baking sheet. It is important to have an even spread for it to cook properly and not get toasted at specific places
Decarbing
THC and CBD are not readily available in cannabis. They are available as CBDA and THCA compounds in the marijuana leaves which need to be heated for them to turn into CBD and THC, respectively.
For doing this the easiest way possible for you is to put the weed tray in a preheated oven at 245ºF.
Now let the weed get toasted for about 30/40 minutes. After every 5 to 10 minutes, you can check on the weed to see if has gotten an even roasting and if it is getting too dry or worse, burning.
Grind further
Now, you can grind the toasted buds into a fine powder that can be used for the butter.
Making the butter
Put the butter into a saucepan and let it melt. Once the butter has heated sufficiently, you can add the ground decarboxylated weed to it and let it seep in the butter, and heat all the good ingredients that it has to.
Cook like this for 5 minutes, and at the end of it, you will have the perfect Cannabutter that you can use for anything.
Why do you need to make Cannabutter?
A very pertinent question asked by people is why we need to make cannabutter. We think of making Cannabutter or procuring it by any mechanism as the first step in cooking anything with weed.
If you want to make a weed-infused dish, then you need to find a way of getting weed in there. Cannabutter helps you do that. You can not use weed directly in your dish as the weed compounds aren’t available for consumption freely.
Therefore, by decarboxylating them and infusing them into the butter you make it easy to use. But still, the question remains unanswered, why butter, and why not something else?
The simple answer is that THC is fat-soluble and not water-soluble, therefore, you can only use a fat-based liquid to dissolve it and can not dissolve it into water.
